I just ended my Instant Ink subscription. I purchased my own HP ink cartridge (because the ones I had automatically stopped working even though I already paid for them) and now this cartridge will only print every other line of my document. I have cleaned both printer and cartridge, restarted, replaced, and nothing works. I feel like this is just a way to get me to pay my subscription again. Can anyone help?

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It sounds like you're experiencing issues with your printer after ending your HP Instant Ink subscription and using your own HP ink cartridge. This problem can be frustrating, but let's go through some troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue.

Check Ink Levels and Cartridge Installation

Check Ink Levels:

  • Ensure that the cartridge you installed is fully loaded with ink. Some printers have an option to check ink levels from the control panel or software.

Proper Cartridge Installation:

  • Make sure the ink cartridges are installed correctly in the printer. Sometimes a cartridge that is not seated properly can cause printing issues.

Perform Printhead and Cartridge Cleaning

Printhead Cleaning:

  • Run the automatic printhead cleaning utility from your printer settings. This can often clear up issues with print quality.
  • If the automatic cleaning doesn't work, manually clean the printhead using distilled water and a lint-free cloth. Gently blot the printhead to remove any residue.

Cartridge Cleaning:

  • Clean the contacts on the cartridge and inside the cartridge slot in the printer using a lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water. This ensures that the electrical contacts are clean and can properly communicate with the printer.

Printer Settings and Alignment

Print Settings:

  • Check your print settings. Make sure you are using the correct paper type and quality settings.

Printhead Alignment:

  • Perform a printhead alignment. This helps ensure that the cartridges are calibrated correctly and can print accurately.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
