What model printer are you using?

Do you get any errors?

When you try to make a copy, does the printer produce a blank sheet or nothing at all?

Check the ink levels and replace any low/empty ink cartridges.

I have an HP Photosmart 5524 printer and Windows 10.

I don't get any error messages.

When I try to copy or print the printer does not print black ink.

The problems started when I had low level of black ink and changing the black ink cartridge (genuine HP cartridge, by the way) did not help.

I have tried all the advise given on the HP website and so far nothing has worked.

Is there a software

I am not sure my answers to your question was logged, so here I go again..

 

I have an HP Photosmart 5524 printer and Windows 10.

When I try to copy OR print the printer does not print black. It only prints colour.

The problem started when the black ink level was low.  I changed to a new black ink cartridge (a genuine HP cartridge, by the way), but this did not help.

I have followed all the advise given on the HP website and by HP support online, but so far nothing has helped.

Is there a software problem, as so many people have the same problem at the same time?

Thank you for the information. Have you tried making a copy in color?

Replace any low/empty ink cartridge.

Make sure you have tried the steps from this document - Black or Color Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues

Clean the ink cartridge for 2 cycles and then print a print quality report to check the result.

 

If the issue persists, please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region regarding the service options. 

You may create a case on the website to obtain a case number if required. Kindly watch this video to know how.

As I said in my previous post - I have tried copying in colour. It prints all, but black. I have also tried ALL the advise given on the HP website, so I have already cleaned the ink cartridge for 2 cycles. Nothing has worked so far.

I will "reach out" to the HP technical support, but won't hold my breath as my printer no longer is under warranty.

I have just tried to use "HP Technical Support", but it says it's only for business customers only, which I am not. What do I do now?
