Hi @Jeb200,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP Smart Tank 7602 printing issues!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check Ink Levels:

  • Ensure that the black ink tank has enough ink and is not empty. The ink tank must be filled properly for the printer to function correctly.

Inspect Printheads:

  • Remove the black printhead and examine it for any visible damage or clogs. If necessary, manually clean the printhead using a lint-free cloth and distilled water as demonstrated in some HP troubleshooting videos.

Align the Printheads:

  • Go to the printer settings and run the printhead alignment process. This can sometimes resolve printing issues by ensuring the printheads are correctly aligned.

Use Printer Software:

  • Access the HP printer software on your computer. It often includes diagnostic tools to address print quality issues, which may help identify and solve the problem.

Perform Additional Cleaning:

  • If cleaning the printheads through the printer software hasn’t resolved the issue, try running a more thorough cleaning process. Some printers offer a "Deep Clean" option.

Check Printer Settings:

  • Ensure that you’re selecting the correct print settings, such as selecting black and white printing if you need a black output explicitly.

Firmware Update:

  • Check for any available firmware updates for your printer. Updating can sometimes resolve operational glitches or bugs.

Reinstall Cartridges:

  • Remove the cartridges, inspect for any ink buildup or tape, and reinstall them securely.

I hope this helps.
