Like the title says, sometimes my HP DeskJet 2800e printer will simply stop partway through a job and spit out the page. There are no error messages, and it happens both wired and wireless. Most annoying is when it happens when I'm printing on sticker sheets or shrink plastic, wasting expensive materials. The utter lack of error messages and apparently random nature of the problem makes it very difficult to troubleshoot, but I have to try, because it's happened twice tonight now and I can't afford to keep wasting sticker paper on this.

@ladyheather007, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

The issue of your HP DeskJet 2800e stopping mid-print and ejecting the page without error messages can be frustrating, especially when using expensive materials like sticker sheets or shrink plastic. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and potentially solve the problem:

1. Check Printer Settings and Connections

  • Printer Settings: Verify that the settings in your print dialog box match the type of paper and print quality required.
  • Connection Stability: Ensure the printer’s connection is stable. If using wireless, make sure the network signal is strong and consistent.

2. Firmware and Driver Update (Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support)

  • Update Firmware: Ensure your printer firmware is up to date.
    • Visit the HP Drivers and Software page.
    • Follow instructions to download and install the latest firmware for your printer.
  • Update Drivers: Ensure your printer drivers are current.
    • Use the same HP Support page to get the latest drivers for your system.

3. Clean Print Head and Cartridge Contacts

  • Print Head Cleaning: Clean the print head and cartridge contacts.
    • Turn off the printer.
    • Remove the ink cartridges and clean the copper-colored contacts with a lint-free cloth.
    • Reinstall cartridges and perform a print head cleaning cycle using the printer software.

4. Printer Alignment

  • Align Printer: Perform a print head alignment.
    • Access printer software settings.
    • Find the alignment option under the maintenance section and follow the prompts.

5. Check Paper Settings and Quality

  • Paper Type Settings: Ensure you're selecting the correct paper type in the printer settings, especially when using special materials like sticker sheets or shrink plastic.
    • Incorrect settings can cause the printer to stop if it detects a mismatch.
  • Paper Quality: Inspect the materials for any abnormalities. Ensure they are compatible with your printer.

I hope these steps help resolve the issue
