Hi @Annie269,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP ENVY 5546 All-In-One Printer is displaying a "busy" message, it could be due to various reasons. Here are steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Cancel Print Jobs:

  • On your computer, go to the print queue.
  • Cancel all print jobs that are in the queue.
  • Restart both your computer and the printer.

Check for Paper Jams:

  • Make sure there are no paper jams or obstructions in the printer. If there is a paper jam, clear it according to the printer's manual.

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Wait for about 30 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and the printer.
  • Turn the printer back on.

Check for Errors on the Printer Display:

  • Look at the printer display for any error messages. If there are any error messages, follow the instructions to resolve the issue.

Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed on your computer. You can download the latest drivers from the HP website.

Reset the Printer:

  • Some printers have a reset option in the settings menu. Check your printer's manual for instructions on how to perform a reset.

Check Connectivity:

  • Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your computer, either through USB or a network connection. If using a network connection, make sure the network is stable.

Update Firmware:

  • Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer on the HP support website. Updating the firmware can resolve various issues.

Factory Reset (if necessary):

  • As a last resort, you may consider performing a factory reset on your printer. Note that this will erase all custom settings, so use this option only if other methods fail.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.-
