My HP officejet pro plus 8500A won’t print even after I bought new ink and when I go on the website and use my serial number it says the printer has expired, does this mean I can’t use it ever again?

Hi @Bertha35 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Officejet Pro 8500A Plus shows as "expired" typically refers to the support and warranty status rather than the printer’s functionality. This means HP is no longer actively supporting the device with updates or service, but it shouldn't prevent you from using it.

If your printer won't print even with new ink cartridges, here are a few troubleshooting steps to try:

Restart the Printer: Power off the printer, unplug it for a few minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on.

Reset Ink Cartridge Recognition:

  • Remove the ink cartridges and power off the printer.
  • Wait for 60 seconds, power it back on, and reinstall the cartridges.

Update Printer Firmware (if possible): Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Even though HP may no longer support firmware updates, checking for any last available updates could help if it hasn’t been done recently.

Print a Test Page:

  • Try printing a test page from the printer’s control panel to see if it’s a connectivity issue or an internal problem.

Check Ink Cartridge Compatibility:

  • Ensure the new cartridges are compatible with the 8500A Plus. Sometimes expired or third-party cartridges can cause recognition issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
