HP 7740 Printer. I moved and have just hooked it back up. It says make sure guides are aligned. After aligning them it now says no paper or door is open. It won't start printing

Hi @JDB022755
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
It sounds like your HP 7740 printer is having trouble detecting the paper or recognizing that everything is properly closed after being set up again. Let's troubleshoot this step by step:
1. Recheck the Paper Guides
Open the paper tray and make sure the guides are snug against the paper without being too tight.
Ensure the paper is properly aligned and not bent, crumpled, or sticking together. Remove the stack, fan it gently, and reload it.
Only load paper within the capacity indicated for your tray to avoid overfilling.
2. Ensure All Doors Are Fully Closed
Open and then firmly close the paper tray and any access panels (including the front and rear doors).
Look for any obstructions that may prevent the doors from closing completely. Even a tiny misalignment can trigger the error.
3. Check for Paper or Debris Inside the Printer
Turn the printer off, unplug it, and inspect the interior for any small scraps of paper or debris left behind during the move.
Check the rollers inside the paper path and gently clean them with a lint-free cloth if they appear dusty or dirty.
4. Reset the Printer
Turn the printer off and unplug it from the power source.
Wait about one minute, then plug it back in and turn it on.
This can help clear any temporary errors in the printer’s sensors.
5. Perform a Printer Self-Test
Use the printer’s control panel to run a diagnostic or self-test page.
If the error persists during the self-test, the issue could be with the sensors that detect paper or door status.
6. Update the Firmware
HP regularly releases new firmware versions for printer enhancements, app updates, or issue fixes. Update the firmware regularly to get the most out of your printer.
