I have tried many things but the paper jam indicator remains on. There is no paper jam. i pulled out the paper in my first step and the whole piece came out. I have unplugged the printer for 30 minutes. I have looked at all possible places for a jam. There is no paperjam.

@ChrisOjai

Welcome to HP Forums,

Let's get straight to it, shall we..

A Paper Jam or Tray Problem message displays on the computer screen, and the printer stops printing. The Power light, the Resume light , and the Paper Jam light  on the printer control panel might blink. This indicates that paper might be jammed inside the printer.

   NOTE:

Paper jams can be real or false. The printer might report a paper jam even when there is no jammed paper. The following steps apply to both real and false paper jams.

Step 1: Remove loose paper from the paper trays

Remove any loose paper from the paper trays, but do not remove any jammed paper during this step.

  1. Pull out Tray 1, and then remove any loose sheets of paper from the tray.

    Pull out Tray 1
  2. Pull out Tray 2 (if installed), and then remove any loose sheets of paper from the tray.

  3. Remove any loose sheets of paper from the output tray.
