The status on my printer shows Idle. First time connecting it to my macbook air. My printer is a deskjet ink advantage 2374.
I have the printer plugged in with USB. And already tried unplugging and restarting my computer.

Hi @NikitaConner,
I'd like to help!
I understand the printer shows idle on your Mac.
To assist better -
- Have you installed HP Smart or printer drivers on your mac?
- Do you have an Anti-virus/firewall installed on the Mac?
- What is the length of the USB cable you're using?
- Is the USB cable directly connected to your mac or are you using a hub?
Meanwhile, check if the USB printer is detected on your mac
- You may check this in System Information > Applications> utility folder
- You can also hold down the option key and click on the Apple at the top left of the screen to get to System Information
- Click System Report.
- Under the Hardware heading on the left side of the System Information window, click USB. USB 3 devices appear under USB 3.0 Bus, and USB 2 devices appear under USB 2.0 Bus. The printer should be under the USB 2.0 Bus
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
