Deskjet ink advantage 2374
macOS 11.0 Big Sur

The status on my printer shows Idle. First time connecting it to my macbook air. My printer is a deskjet ink advantage 2374.

I have the printer plugged in with USB. And already tried unplugging and restarting my computer.

Hi @NikitaConner,

I'd like to help!

I understand the printer shows idle on your Mac.

To assist better -

  1. Have you installed HP Smart or printer drivers on your mac?
  2. Do you have an Anti-virus/firewall installed on the Mac?
  3. What is the length of the USB cable you're using?
  4. Is the USB cable directly connected to your mac or are you using a hub?

Meanwhile, check if the USB printer is detected on your mac

  1. You may check this in System Information > Applications> utility folder
  2. You can also hold down the option key and click on the Apple at the top left of the screen to get to System Information
  3.  Click System Report.
  4.   Under the Hardware heading on the left side of the System Information window, click USB. USB 3 devices appear under USB 3.0 Bus, and USB 2 devices appear under USB 2.0 Bus. The printer should be under the USB 2.0 Bus

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
