Thanks for reaching out to us on HP Support Forums. I came across your post and would like to assist.

I understand that you have an HP Officejet Pro 6830 e-All-in-One Printer. I read that the printer is stuck on letter mode and does not change to regular paper made. Fabulous analysis. Spectacular diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that. You've done a remarkable job performing the steps.

For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this:

  • Does the "Does not support envelope C5" message appear on the printer or on the computer?
  • Dd any software changes or updates happen on the printer?

Meanwhile, I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:

  • Disconnect the power cable from the printer while the printer is still ON.
  • Disconnect any other cables if connected the printer.
  • Press and hold the printer’s power button for 15 seconds.
  • The printer should be directly connected to the wall outlet and not to a surge protector.
  • Reconnect the power cable to print and the printer should power ON by itself. If the printer doesn’t power ON then please manually power it ON.

Please perform a firmware update on your printer via this link.

If the issue persists and the message is on the printer, only then you may perform a semi full reset on the printer. I have sent you a private message with the reset steps.

I sincerely hope this fixes the issue. Please feel free to let me know how it goes. Good luck! 🙂
