HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I just replaced the hp cartridges in my OfficeJet  Pro 8025 and it has been validating for over half the day.  How do I get it unstuck or turn off the validating option.  Thank you.

Hi @kak50, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e is stuck on "validating cartridges" after replacing them, try the following troubleshooting steps:

Restart the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait 2-3 minutes to clear any residual power.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Remove and Reinsert the Cartridges

  • Open the printer’s ink cartridge access door.
  • Remove all ink cartridges and inspect them for any damage or protective tape (ensure the contacts are clean).
  • Reinsert them firmly into their respective slots.
  • Close the access door and check if validation completes.

Perform a Hard Reset

  • With the printer on, unplug the power cord from both the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Wait 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet first, then into the printer.
  • Turn the printer back on and see if it proceeds past validation.

Check for Firmware Updates

  • If the printer screen becomes responsive, check for updates:
    • Go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Update Printer.
    • Allow the printer to install any available updates.

Use Original HP Cartridges

  • If you're using non-HP or refilled cartridges, the printer may be stuck due to firmware security restrictions.
  • Try replacing them with genuine HP setup cartridges (if this is the initial setup) or genuine replacement cartridges.

6. Reset to Factory Defaults

  • If the issue persists, you may need to reset the printer:
    • On the printer control panel, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore > Restore Factory Defaults.
    • After resetting, set up the printer again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
