HP DeskJet 2723 All-in-One Printer

I have tried all the solutions that I came across on the internet for this issue but nothing works, I have reset the printer several times, I have checked printer settings multiple times and it is set to A4 paper and the paper I put in the tray is also A4 but the issue persists and whenever I try to print anything "E1" error comes up and printer cannot print anything, the only time it can print anything is when I photocopy a document manually by placing a document on the scanner and pressing the photocopy button, but even that is messed up and the size of the document photocopied is the same size as a letter.

Hi @NimiTe,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are getting the E1 error on HP DeskJet printers usually indicates a paper size mismatch or paper feed issue.

Here are some additional steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Check Paper Settings Again:

  • Ensure that the paper size settings on the printer's control panel and the printer software on your computer are both set to A4.
  • Sometimes the setting may be in a different menu or need to be confirmed multiple times.

Check Paper Tray:

  • Ensure that the paper is loaded correctly in the tray. The paper should be aligned properly with the paper guides.
  • Try removing the paper and reloading it to ensure it’s not jammed or misaligned.

Update Printer Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer. Firmware updates can fix bugs and resolve issues related to paper handling.

Reset Printer to Factory Settings:

  • Perform a factory reset on the printer. This can sometimes resolve persistent issues. The procedure can be found in the printer’s user manual or HP’s support website.

Check for Paper Jams:

  • Ensure there are no small pieces of paper stuck inside the printer that could be causing the issue. Look inside the paper tray and near the paper path.

Perform a Print Head Alignment:

  • Sometimes alignment issues can cause errors. Perform a print head alignment through the printer’s menu.

Inspect Printer’s Paper Sensor:

  • The paper sensor may be malfunctioning or dirty. If you are comfortable doing so, you can try to locate and gently clean the paper sensor. Be cautious to avoid damaging any components.
