My new printer which I just purchased less than six months ago stopped printing clear pages. I tried both wireless and USB. The pages print blurry. The ink levels are good. It was printing fine before. I tried resetting it too. What else should I do that might resolve this issue?

I tried all of the troubleshooting steps and none of them worked. I used the chat to talk with an agent, and he determined that the ink cartridges are defective. As per the warranty, I'll be getting a new set of ink cartridges.

Thank you.

@ap117, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Try making a standalone copy and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

Try using an Alternate/old set of ink cartridges if available and check if the issue persists.

For now, let us try these steps to resolve this issue:

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

Update the printer firmware

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Align the printer

  1. Load the input tray with plain white paper.

  2. Pull out the output tray, and then lift the output tray extender.

  3. On the printer control panel, swipe left on the display, and then touch Setup .

  4. Touch Tools.

  5. Swipe up on the display, and then touch Align Printer. An alignment page prints.

  6. After the alignment page prints, lift the scanner lid, place the alignment page with the print side down on the scanner glass. Position it according to the engraved guides around the glass.

  7. Close the scanner lid, and then touch OK. The printer aligns the ink cartridges.

  8. After the printer aligns the ink cartridges, touch OK on the control panel.

Print a Print Quality Diagnostic report

  1. On the printer control panel, swipe left on the display, and then touch Setup .

  2. Touch Tools.

  3. Swipe up on the display, and then touch Print Quality Report.

Let me know how this goes.
