HP ENVY 6458e All-in-One Printer

Every night a little after midnight the printer turns on and sounds like it’s running some type of alignment test for about 10 minutes and since it’s located in the bedroom of course it’s keeping us awake at night. I need to understand what’s going on with it. It’s been doing it for a week now

Hi @rick2359,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

I understand that you are facing issues with your printer turning on automatically.

It sounds like your printer might be set to automatically perform maintenance tasks, such as print head alignment, at a specific time each day. To address this, you can try the following steps:

Check Printer Settings: Access the printer's settings either through its control panel or the HP Smart app (if available) to see if there's a scheduled maintenance or alignment task set for midnight.

Disable Scheduled Tasks: If you find a scheduled task, you can disable it or change the time to a more convenient time.

Update Firmware: Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. Sometimes, firmware updates can resolve issues with scheduled tasks. Click here and select your current OS

Reset Printer: As a last resort, you can try resetting the printer to its factory settings. This will erase all settings, including any scheduled tasks, so make sure to set it up again afterward.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
