That does sound odd.

What is the file type?

Document (Word), Photo / Image?

Does this happen when printing PDF files that happen to have pictures?

Why ask?

Generally, PDF file format treats embedded photos differently than the same images inserted into a Word document.

What is the Operating System / version of the device you are using to print?

What the the application or software you are using to print?

Is the problem new?

Have you already tried a Restart on your printer, device (computer, tablet, phone)?

Does the failed job get stuck in the print queue?  This is more of a question for Windows than Mobile, of course.

it does this on ANYTHING with pictures .docx, .pdf, html, .jpg. the moment it detects a picture on the spooled page it will just... stop. hold on an 8th of the page printed them freak out and try again. but with text and only text it will print just fine

HP Recommended

also, no. the print que self clears itself out after it fails to print an 8th page after 2 to 3 times or until the page count is met (e.g. it will repeat the print job fail and then restart until the page count is met)

The OS in question is win 10

Word, internet Browser, picture viewer,

the problem IS new

full device driver purge and hard restarts on both

and it enters and leaves the Spooler Queue without issue

OK.

Understanding "purge" to mean

  • Uninstall printer software from Programs and Features
  • Restart computer
  • Install fresh copy of the full driver printer software.

Next,

Ensure that the Driver in Printer Properties is set to the installed HP driver as opposed to the Windows / IPP Class driver.

for the system purge uninstalled the driver then went in and manually deleted the registry entry for the HP device.

Instillation fails as it cannot detect device, even while physically plugged in via USB however upon USB plug in the following is auto installed:

HP Envy 4500 series Printers
HP Envy 4500 series (USB) Imaging devices

HP Envy 4500 series (REST) Universal Serial Bus Controllers

USB Composite Device

i do not have an advanced tab. the only tabs i have for the two HP ENVY 4500 SERIES printer entries is GENERAL and HARDWARE (both are installed on USB entry

ive tried basic readers as well, PDF will start to print (EX. a 6 page PDF. will print page 6 just fine, see the picture on page 5 stop an 8th of the page hold the page for 10 minutes, spit the page out then restarts the print job, printing page 6, sticking on page 5 and repeating until 6 'pages' have been printed) Basic readers cannot print correctly either

HP PCL3 A-size Printer Class driver - Text prints fine, fails on picture detection, all media, all formats, all tested programs

None of the class drivers will solve your problem.

None of the auto-installed drivers will solve the problem of printing images.

The full driver printer software must be installed.

Next,

The Printer Properties must be pointing the "Driver" to the installed HP software and not a Class or IPP driver.

No, I cannot explain why you cannot install the printer software, though the sequence of events is important.

I cannot (will not) speak to your having cleared / edited the Registry --  I no longer give any advice on the practice.

Personal choice.

After a successful installation of the Full Feature Software --

I cannot explain why you would not have a Printer Properties menu of the type described.

Operating System / Version 10 should include the full Printer Properties menu -- as I recall, Printer Properties is not stripped, odd rendition of the whole in any version of Windows.

Perhaps you opened "Properties" instead of "Printer Properties?

True, the Properties menu is completely different from the menu in Printer Properties.

Example

It is true that if you cannot install the printer software for any reason, that the contents in Printer Properties will be a reflection of what is installed and not inclusive of the type of information shown in the example.

==================================

Printer - Full Feature Software

HP Full Feature Software / Full Driver printer software - supports printing and scanning from the web, printing in in other software and programs (for example, Word), and provides access to the full range of Printing Preferences / Shortcuts.  The full driver generally adds at one, possibly least one, possibly two shortcuts to the Desktop: Printer Assistant, HP Scan Assistant, and/or HP Scan.

NOTES:

HP Scan is not installed if the printer does not support Scan.

The Printer Assistant is not installed if the type of full driver software does not support it.  If the printer model includes built-in Fax hardware, the software supports the setup and use of the Fax driver. No Sign-in required.

Reinstalling?

  • Uninstall existing full driver printer software from Programs and Features.
  • If your printer includes a separate "help" in Programs and Features, uninstall that, too.
  • Restart the computer and log in.
  • If the printer is connected to the computer using a printer USB cable, remove / disconnect the cable before loading the software.

>>> Full Feature Software - Web Pack Installation Package - Information - Download / Save / (then) Install <<<

HP ENVY 4500 e-All-in-One Print and Scan Driver and Accessories

If / When asked, opt for the Full Driver / Full Software to be installed.

If using a USB printer cable, (re)connect the cable when instructed to do so, near the end of the installation.

After the software is installed, Restart the computer and sign in.

the full driver instillation package either fails on 'activation' phase with a zero response or it does not recognize the USB connection. However the only thing that the program says it installs is the HP Printer Assistant, labeled

"HP ENVY4500: HP Printer assistant"  appearing as an ENVY 4500 App on my start bar,  and i can only do that with with a connect later setting (under windows 8 detection). However, said program can see the ink levels in the printer when connected to USB, can send test and diagnostic pages, as well as can clean and align printer head from the internal diagnostic settings, thus i know its not its not the printer head, nor the printer itself, as it successfully passes all diagnostic tests of all 4 inkwell tests. I can scan and do all features for the device, even printing in color TEXT.  so the drivers were installed correctly, and short of manually installing the driver by hand OUTSIDE of the installer, everything appears to have correctly applied

in regards to "9025_Printer_Properties_Advanced_Driver_List_14" i have that but in order for me to access it i CANNOT right click properties the printer. i have to double click the printer and in that pop up click "personalize Printer" as my right click menu has Open, Open in new Window, Create Shortcut, Remove Device, Troubleshoot, and properties. in order to hit the menu your talking about i have to explicitly rout my way through carefully curated HP branded connections

Further information that im able to dig out after another failed install via failed HP server empty response:

the following was installed from the "Full_Webpack-116-Full_Webpack" instillation after another HP full device deletion and reset

Driver Installed:

32.4.116.94128 (I assume this is the version)

Support Software:

HP ENVY 4500 series Help

HP Update

5.005.002.002

Product Improvement Study for HP ENNVY 4500 series

This attempt i can still do all the previous functions, and it wuill still lock up on image detection in any file or document
