HP OfficeJet 7110 Wide Format ePrinter - H812a
Microsoft Windows 11

Using online support, I have restarted several times and the problem is not resolved. All ink cartridges are present and have ample ink. No paper jams. Cannot get "!" light to stop flashing. When I open the lid, the ink cartridge mechanism goes back and forth but will not stop to allow me access to it.

@PegAZ38, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer that does not print!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I know how frustrating it can be when your printer isn’t cooperating, especially when the ink cartridges won’t stop for you to change them and that “!” light just keeps blinking. You’ve already tried quite a bit on your own—kudos for being proactive and checking for jams, ink levels, and doing restarts.

Let’s try a few more things together to see if we can get things back on track:

Perform a Power Reset

This helps clear out any temporary glitches.

While the printer is on, disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.

Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

Wait about 60 seconds.

Plug it back in directly to a wall outlet (not a surge protector).

Reconnect the power cord to the printer and turn it on if it doesn’t turn on automatically.

Check the Carriage Movement

Since you mentioned that the carriage moves back and forth but doesn’t stop for access—try opening the lid just as the printer starts up. Sometimes, timing it right when the printer is initializing can cause the carriage to pause at the center.

Look for Hidden Obstructions

Even if there’s no paper jam, a small bit of debris or dried ink can interfere with the sensor:

With the printer off and unplugged, gently check the paper path and cartridge area using a flashlight.

Look for any stuck labels, bits of paper, or even a misaligned cartridge.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
