Hi 🙂 I have a HP Envy 4524 that insists on only printing one line (normally the fourth/fifth line) of any document. We have tried printing from two mac-books and a "windows" based Dell... and get the same results. I have re-installed & updated the software from HP, "cleaned the printheads" - It prints the test page perfectly. Now at a loss what to do???

Hi! @Rog_12, Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums!
I understand you have print quality issues with your printer.
Don't worry I'll try to help you out.
Did you make any changes to your printer?
Have you tried checking with a different ink cartridge?
Does the issue persist when you make a copy from your printer?
Have you tried printing from a different application? Does the issue persist?
Have you tried checking with a different brand paper?
As you mentioned when you print from your printer it is printing only one line of the document.
I appriciate your efforts for trying out the steps before reaching out to us.
Replace low, faulty or empty ink cartridges on your printer.
Check the print settings for your print job in OS X on a Mac computer.
-
Open a document, click File, and then click Print.
The Print window opens.
-
Select the Paper Type/Quality or Media & Quality menu.
-
Depending on your print job, you might consider modifying the following settings:
-
Paper type: If one of the options matches your paper type exactly, select that option.
-
Quality: If you are dissatisfied with the quality of your printouts, increase the print quality. To print more quickly, decrease the print quality.
To save your settings for future print jobs, select Save in the Presets menu and then name the new preset.
-
Try the steps recommended below.
Align the printer
Aligning the ink cartridges correctly aligns the printhead with the printer. Align the printer from the printer control panel, then evaluate the results.
-
Make sure to load the input tray with plain, white paper.
-
On the printer control panel, swipe the display to the left, and then touch Setup
.
-
Touch Tools.
-
Swipe up on the display, then touch Align Printer.
An alignment page prints.
-
Wait for the alignment page to fully eject from the printer.
NOTE:
Before a print job, the printer automatically extends the output tray extender. Do not push in the output tray extender until the print job is complete.
-
Lift the scanner lid.
-
Place the alignment page with the print side down on the scanner glass. Position it according to the engraved guides around the glass.
-
Close the scanner lid, then touch OK
The printer aligns the ink cartridges.
-
Try to print again.
If the issue still persists after trying out the steps try adding the printer as AirPrint.
Make sure your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Mac.
Choose File > Print in the app you’re using.
Click the Printer menu, then choose the AirPrint printer under Nearby Printers.
Note: If you don’t see your AirPrint printer, you can choose Add Printer from the Printer menu and add it to your list of printers.
Select the other print options you want and click Print.
