@hansi1

Welcome to HP Forums,

Let's get straight to it!

There are a few things we can do to identify the cause and resolve the issue, let's start with a hard reset:

  1. Press the Power button to turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
  2. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.

  3. Disconnect the power cord from the power source, and then wait 30 seconds.

  4. If you previously connected the power cord to a power strip or multi-plug outlet adapter, reconnect the cord directly to a wall outlet to ensure the printer is getting enough power.

  5. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer, and then turn on the printer.

    • If the error no longer displays, make a test copy to confirm the issue is resolved.

    • If the error still displays, connect the printer power cord to a different wall outlet to determine if the original outlet is causing the issue.

    • If the error still displays with a different wall outlet, continue to the next step.

Thank you very much for your advice. However, after downloading the firmware update, it could  not find my printer on the system. I uninstalled and re-installed it bit it still couldn't find it. Yet it still prints ok, it's just that it won't copy. Any more ideas please? Otherwise I'll have to buy a new printer, which is a shame because apart from the copying problem, it's ok:HalfEyes:

@hansi1 It looks like we've reached the end of the line, if the firmware didn't do the trick, this could be a hardware malfunction,

I suggest you talk to HP support and discuss your options:

follow the below steps to get started:

1) Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/

2) Click on "Continue as guest".

3) Enter the serial of your device.

5) Click on "Show Options".

Fill the web-form, to populate a case number and phone number for yourself!
