Paper jam has been cleared but printer still refuses to print claiming there is a paper jam.  I've been through the procedure several times.  I've also closed down the printer and  re-started several times.  What can I do?

As you know from having completed the Troubleshooting, your options are limited.

 

Known Solutions, presented in the order to be completed:

 Paper Jam Error

note:
Paper jams can be real or false. The printer might report a paper jam even when there is no jammed paper. The following steps apply to both real and false paper jams.

 

Side Bar

Officejet Pro 8740 recently showed a paper jam (first ever) - the tiny piece of paper was jammed inside the back of the printer and only accessible after I took apart the back side, removed the duplexer, and flipped open the inside flap to get to the obstructed area.  IF the paper jam is "real", there is a bit of paper in there somewhere - you just have to find it.

 

Unfortunately, it is possible that in spite of all your efforts, you won't find the bit of paper OR the error is actually indicative of something wrong in the hardware. 

 

If there is no paper, 

If the error is persistant,

If the error can be cleared, the Reset (explained in the document) will likely take care of it.

 

Hopefully something will help before you get to the last step (Service).

 

If all else fails,

If the printer is still under warranty,

Open a case with HP Technical Support:

“Everywhere” Contact Information - HP Technical Support

HP World-Wide Support

 Select your region and follow the prompts

Reminders:

  • Use the serial number of the device to submit the case (do not post that information here).
  • In those areas where Chat is an option, Chat service hours are likely restricted.
  • Chat is not available in every region.

In the event that Chat is not available in your region:  Call the number provided in the HP directory, else submit your case online (to receive phone contact information)

 

  • HP will advise you there is a fee for phone support and / or other services when your computer / device is no longer under warranty.  This is normal business practice.
  • HP may tell you that certain services are not covered under warranty.  This is normal business practice.  Standard Warranty typically covers specific hardware issues as explained in the Warranty contract. Care Pack coverage and warranties differ by package.
  • USA / Canada: HPposts your regional contact information after you submit an online case.  Use the serial number of the device to submit the case to HP.
