Not sure how your printer is connected.  I have seen many post reporting this error message when printer is connected via USB.  Switching to WIFI connection solved problem.

How did you find someone to call to help you? I have the same problem. The HP Detect my device is not working at all. I keep putting in the serial number and model # but I get nothing. This is driving me crazy. Can you share a number where you were able to get direct help?

I just got off the phone with a tech. He fixed it! There are two factory resets. One is the entire reset that came from the factory and then he did a second re set to something else but I don't remember the difference between the two.  His name was Gavin. FIND HIM. He is wonderful. He is checking on me at  3 pm tomorrow to make sure the printer is still not printing up junk pages. In addition, he is giving me 15% off a ink the next time I order for my trouble. The printer was literally printing 10 junk pages before the one page I requested and like 10 junk pages after that. He said this is a good model because the ink does not smudge, which is what I need. I am so thankful. I am a teacher and I needed this in proper working order before kids showed up next week. I was not always a fan of HP, but wow, did this guy change my mind. In addition, I got a great deal from Office Depot in Bradenton, FL.  The cheap state of FL gives us a small handout of money at the beginning of the year and all of it went to this printer because I work with kids with disabilities who need lots of verbal cues like loads of pictures of actions and directions to follow. This will be a game changer in my classroom. Local schools here have no colored printers and now I hopefully have one that works properly.

This post I found fixed the issue.

Find the part about Resetting the Print Spooler.  Very easy instructions and it immediately solved the issue.
