Hi. my printer is HP Envy Pro 6452. It prints driver information but will not print emails. I have ink, paper and have done Virtual Assistants suggestions. This is what happens when I try to print something: 1) It begins to print, but I can tell that it's printing very slowly. 2) I then hit the Cancel light, the paper comes out, and what I get is very very pale printing. I have ink. I have paper. I taken the cartridges out and put them back in, and as I said, it prints what the driver says. The driver is updated. It says on HP Smart that I am connected to the internet. My printer says I'm connected. I don't know what to do.
Does the printer head need to be cleaned? If so, how do I do it?

Hi @bbud,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're experiencing printing issues, especially if the printouts are very pale and the printer is working slowly, it's possible that the printhead may need cleaning. Here's a general guide on how to clean the printhead for the HP Envy Pro 6452.
Automatic Cleaning:
- Many printers, including HP models, have an automatic printhead cleaning utility in their software. You can access this through the printer software on your computer.
Manual Cleaning:
- If automatic cleaning doesn't resolve the issue, you can manually clean the printhead. Keep in mind that this process can vary slightly between different printer models. Here's a general guide:
- Turn off the printer and disconnect it from the power source.
- Open the printer cover to access the printhead.
- Carefully remove the ink cartridges.
- Locate the printhead – it's the component that holds the ink cartridges.
- Moisten a lint-free cloth with distilled water. Avoid using tap water as it may contain impurities that can harm the printhead.
- Gently wipe the printhead with the damp cloth. Be careful not to apply too much pressure.
- Allow the printhead to air dry for a few minutes.
- Reinstall the ink cartridges and close the printer cover.
Print a Test Page:
- After cleaning, print a test page to see if the print quality has improved. This can be done through the printer software on your computer.
Check for Firmware Updates:
- Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. You can usually find firmware updates on the HP support website.
Check Ink Levels:
- Make sure that the ink cartridges have sufficient ink levels. If they are low, replace them.
Reinstall Printer Drivers:
- Uninstall the printer drivers from your computer and reinstall the latest drivers from the HP website. Sometimes, driver issues can affect print quality.
Check for Software Conflicts:
- Ensure that no other conflicting software is causing printing issues. Disable unnecessary background applications while printing.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
