Hi @NNDelta,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
The error message you're seeing — “The printhead appears to be missing, not detected, or incorrectly installed” (Error code: 0xc19a0003) — typically relates to a printhead detection or ink system failure on the HP OfficeJet Pro 8630. Let's go through the recommended steps to resolve it:
1. Restart the Printer (Power Reset)
- Make sure the printer is turned on.
- Disconnect the power cable from the back of the printer (with the printer on).
- Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Plug it back into the wall outlet directly (no power strips or surge protectors).
- Reconnect the power cable to the printer and turn it on.
This resets the hardware and may clear temporary ink system errors.
2. Remove and Reinstall the Printhead and Cartridges
- Open the printer’s access door.
- Wait until the carriage moves to the center.
- Carefully remove all ink cartridges.
- Lift the latch and gently remove the printhead assembly.
- Check for:
- Any ink buildup or debris on the electrical contacts?
- Any packaging material or tape left on the printhead (if recently installed).
- Gently clean the copper contacts with a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.
- Reinsert the printhead and lock the latch.
- Reinstall the cartridges.
Then turn the printer back on and check for the error again.
3. Run Printhead Cleaning from the Printer Menu
If the error clears and printing is possible:
- From the printer’s control panel:
Go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Clean Printhead.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
