HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

The printer indicates a Printhead Error. I tried to use the printhead cleaning tools available with the printer but the printer will not allow to use them. The printhead seems to be clogged and the regular cleaning tools do not work.

Certain types of HP printers allow to remove the printhead and clean it. I' have seen a video on HP website describing how to proceed and was to do that until I realized that the printhead can't be removed from OfficeJet Pro 6978.

Is it possible to get a cleaning product from HP or is there any other solution?

Thanks for any help that could be provided.

I understand you are facing an issue with your printer showing a Printhead Error. Not to worry I will help you to resolve the issue.
I suggest you follow the steps from this document to fix the issue. (Click on the Word document to open the web page).

If the steps mentioned in the document, do not help. There is an issue with the printer hardware.

Hi Irwin,

Thanks for the answer to my query. I am sorry for not having reply to your messages earlier. The timing of my query was not great.  After I posted my query, I headed to a cottage where I could not access to the discussion.

I just looked at the document you included in your reply, and it doesn't solve my problem.

I receive a printhead error message and the printer will not let me do anything to clean the printhead. I literally can't do anything.

My printer warranty is expired and there is not latch on the carriage.

Is there anything I can do to solve the problem?

Thanks

Am sorry to hear that the above troubleshooting did not fix the issue.

As you have already tried all the troubleshooting steps, this could be a hardware issue with the unit and may need repair.
