HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 All-in-One Printer

Have this printhead error message.  Tried the troubleshooting tips and that did not resolve issue.  Looks like with this printer model I can't take out the printhead and manually clean.  What are some other options to try?

 

Bought the printer in 2018.  No issues until now.  Great printer!  Would like to fix if I can.

Our 6978 had been working fine until the last few rounds of HP firmware that checks cartridges.

 

We use legit, genuine HP cartidges, but they lightly print or don't print at all.

 

Installed a brand new Cyan one yesterday and today it says 1/4 full after like 3 attempts to print a test page? Really, 3 prints a cartridge????!?!
