I have a HP OfficeJet Pro 8025 that says "problem with printhead" and has an error code of 62.80.03.  Is this a bad printhead, and can I replace it myself?

Hi @TeresaLP2024,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025 printer is displaying a "problem with printhead" error message with an error code of 62.80.03, it indicates a potential issue with the printhead. The error code may vary slightly depending on the specific printer model and firmware version, but in general, it suggests a problem with the printhead.

Before attempting to replace the printhead, you can try the following troubleshooting steps.

  • Restart the Printer: Power off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a minute, and then plug it back in. Power it on and check if the error is resolved.
  • Check for Obstructions: Open the printer cover and check for any obstructions or debris in the printhead area. Clean it carefully.
  • Update Firmware: Sometimes, firmware updates can resolve printhead issues. Check if there are any available firmware updates for your printer on the HP website and install them.
  • Inspect Ink Cartridges: Ensure that your ink cartridges are properly seated and have sufficient ink.
  • Clean Printhead: Many HP printers have the option to clean the printhead from the control panel or printer software. You can try running a printhead cleaning cycle.

If the issue persists after trying these steps, it may indeed be a problem with the printhead itself. Replacing the printhead can be a more advanced procedure, and it's typically recommended to be done by a professional technician.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
