I am getting the print head error code Oxc19a0013. I've shut off printer, taken out cartridges, and everything else the Virtual Assistant has told me to do, but no luck. Any help is appreciated!

Thank you!

Shannon

Hi @ShannonMcK,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for sharing the details, Shannon! The error code 0xc19a0013 on your HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 typically indicates a printhead issue, which can be caused by ink system failures, clogged nozzles, or electrical faults in the printhead.

Since you've already tried the basic steps (power cycling, removing cartridges, and following the Virtual Assistant), here are some advanced steps that may help:

Advanced Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Reset the Printer Without Cartridges:
    • Turn on the printer.
    • Open the cartridge access door and remove all cartridges.
    • With the printer still on, unplug the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.
    • Wait 60 seconds.
    • Plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet (avoid power strips).
    • Reinsert the cartridges and close the access door.
    • Turn the printer back on.

  2. Check for Ink Buildup or Leaks:
    • Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to gently clean the printhead contacts and cartridge contacts.
    • Avoid touching the nozzles directly.

  3. Update Printer Firmware:
    • If possible, connect your printer to Wi-Fi and check for firmware updates via the printer's control panel.

  4. Try a Printhead Cleaning Cycle:
    • From the printer control panel, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Clean Printhead.
