hp officejet pro 8100
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, my hp officejet pro 8100 printer worked perfectly for three years and always with original cartridges. I had to change office and computer, when I reinstalled the printer (which had been stopped for 2 months) I got the print-head error message, not recognized, missing or damage.
I performed various test: reset, contact cleaning, cartridge and printhead removal, without success. At some point, however, after reconnecting the printer power cord in the socket, the printer printed perfectly the head alignment test page by itself. The usual error message immediately reappeared at the next printing test. What can be the solution?
Thank you all.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Have you tried inserting a new set of ink cartridges? if not, please try that. Also, try connecting the Printer to a different wall outlet directly.

Let me know if this helps.

My printer cartridges are almost full (XL). If the printer still does not work with a new set of original cartridges, I will have spent money unnecessarily and will have to change the printer.  Can HP guarantee that the replacement will solve the problem?
Thanks!

Hi.
Today I tried to replace the print cartridges with new original cartridges.
The printer, as expected, continued to show the "missing or damaged printhead" signal.
At this point, it's my convinction, that HP has some very good engineers (who design excellent printers) but very bad programmers. These programmers, forced by marketing managers, decide whether an object should work or not.
The printhead of my printer is not broken, in fact for a strange case, during all my attempts, it has perfectly printed the alignment test. After this print the error signal reappeared and nothing was printed.
I am very disappointed with this situation. I thank those who have tried to give answers. I hope for them that the company where they work can change their marketing strategies in the future.
