Printhead failure code 62.80.24.  Found an article about cleaning the print head on a 8022 but the head setup is not that same in an 8028.  Looking for help on this error

Hi @Skrause59,

I'd like to help!

I understand you are receiving a printhead failure.

Let's try a power reset on the printer to resolve the error

Reset the product

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn the printer on. HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.

Try the steps in the document --Error Indicates Faulty Printhead

If the issue persists, I'd suggest you contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your printer

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thanks for the replay to my problem.  That did not work, nor did anything in that doc.  I did the online chat support with HP and they found it to be a bad printer cartridge. They said the error was related to print head nozzle issues and in this case it was a bad cyan cartridge.  They are sending me a new on so we will see.

Instructions tell me to take printer for service if the printhead does not look like the photo in the how to clean the printhead. How, where to get service? Is there another way to fix the printhead?  If the printhead is part of the ink cartridge would changing all the ink cartridges help? I could change one at a time until finding the one causing problems.  Any suggestions?

@Homesuite10, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand you are not able to print due to this error. Make sure you have tried the steps mentioned in the previous posts.

The printhead is not a part of the ink cartridges in this model printer. If the issue persists, please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region regarding the service/replacement options for your printer.

You may create a case on the website to obtain a case number if required. Kindly watch this video to know how.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
