HELP!!! How long should  aprinter last? our pro 8610 has worked great for 5 years- no issues..it printed last night- then this morning- when someone printed  it gave the message 'printhead missing' error!  It looks to be in great shape- we haven't changed cartridges in a month- no one has done anything but print.  I hate to throw it out (seems wasteful)- would rather fix the issue- but i also have a family of six doing school and work from home that need to print ASAP!! We tried everything we've seen online (unplugged to reset, removed cartridges, reset the printhead) HELP!!! Any ideas?? Buying a new print head for $143 is hard to stomach...though more eco friendly than buying a whole new printer.  BUt what if that doesn't fix it?? ANY SUGGESTIONS?? What is the life of a printer? Is  5 years it and its just caput?

Replace the printer, depending on your printing needs a laser may be one solution if mostly printing in B/W.
