Hi @rolinridge ,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If you are experiencing a "Printhead missing or failed" error and have already followed the usual troubleshooting steps provided in manuals and online resources without success, here are a few additional actions you can consider:

Check the Warranty: Ensure your printhead is still under warranty. You can find the warranty end date on the printhead itself. If your printhead is still in warranty, contact HP Support for assistance.

Clean the Printhead Manually:

  • Remove the printhead from the printer if your printer model allows.
  • Use a lint-free cloth and distilled water to gently clean around the printhead electrical contacts. Avoid using alcohol as it may damage the printhead.
  • After cleaning, reinstall the printhead and check if the issue persists.

Perform a Deep Cleaning:

  • If your printer model supports it, perform a deep or in-depth cleaning cycle. This option may not be available on all printers but can sometimes be accessed through the printer's maintenance or tools menu.

Reset the Printer:

  • Try performing a partial or full reset on your printer to clear any errors. Instructions on how to perform these resets can often be found on HP's support site or within user forums.

Firmware Update:

  • Ensure your printer has the latest firmware installed. Firmware updates can resolve various compatibility and functionality issues. Official HP® Support

Check the Connections:

  • Ensure all connections to the printhead are secure and that there is no blockage in the ink supply tubes (if visible).

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
