HP 6380
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am getting the error "There is a problem with the printerhead" and when I looked inside the printer after checking the cartridges themselves, I found a pool of ink at the bottom of the printer.  I have only used HP instant ink in this printer and it is only 2 years old.  Help?

Hi! @IreneCBV, Welcome to HP forums.

I understand you are getting printhead errors with your printer.

Don't worry I'd like to help you out.

Did you make any changes to your printer?

Please share the operating system you are running on your PC to assist you better.

Please try few steps recommended below.

Update the printer firmware and check if it helps.

Update the printer firmware using this link. Click Here

Resetting the printer can reset the connection to the printhead and clear any error messages.

1. Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.

2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

4. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

5. Wait at least 60 seconds.

6. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

   note:

HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.

7. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

8. Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.

9. Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

•If these steps resolved the issue, you do not need to continue troubleshooting.

If the issue still persists after trying out the steps. It is a hardware issue with your printer.
