My OfficeJet 8500 has been working for several years with only minor issues. But suddenly, I am unable to print. The print job seems to initiate but then it hangs and nothing gets printed. The printer is at a remote location, so I use the EWS server to examine and control the printer.
I use the EWS server to examine the printer status and it shows Status - Ready and there is adquate ink and paper.
Using the EWS server, I can switch the printer from Ethernet to Wireless and back, and either way I get the same behavior.
Using the MAC OSX Printer preferences page, I have removed and reinstalled the printer. Still I get the same behavior.
The printer firmware version is: DLM1FN0924AR
The event log shows event 69552 two days ago and 70350 a month ago
Page count is 10149, I can print the self-test page report and the Page Count increments to 10150. (The printer is remote, so I can't be sure it actually printed a page)
If I try to print a document, the printer status window reports:
Printing - Connecting to Printer
then after a few seconds:
Printing - Printing page 1
then after about a minute:
Printing - The printer is not responding
The EWS shows the printer Status: Ready and the Page Count is unchanged at 10150 and there are no new events in the event log

Hello,
Please try the steps below :-
Reset the Printing System
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Printers & Scanners.
Hold down the Control key as you click in the list at the left, then choose “Reset printing system” from the menu that appears.
After you reset the printing system, the list of printers in Printers & Scanners preferences is empty.
Add a Printer
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Printers & Scanners.
Click Add
in the printer list, then click Windows.
A network browser appears, listing the Windows workgroups on your network.
Select the printer from the network browser.
To locate the printer in the browser, click the workgroup, then click print server (the computer that’s sharing the printer). If prompted, enter the user name and password for the print server.
Click the Use pop-up menu, then choose the appropriate printer software.
Be sure to choose the correct printer software for the printer you’re using. For more information, see the documentation that came with the printer. If you have an HP PCL-compatible printer that’s not listed, choose the printer model that most closely matches your printer.
Click Add.
Although I am an HP employee, I am speaking for myself and not for HP.
