Hi @AAFC,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP printer is printing dashes instead of solid lines or not printing letters, there are several possible causes and solutions that you can try.
- Low ink or toner levels: If your ink or toner levels are low, your printer may not be able to print solid lines or letters. Check your ink or toner levels and replace them if necessary.
- Clogged printhead: Over time, the printhead of your printer can become clogged with dried ink or toner, which can cause lines or letters to be missing or incomplete. Try cleaning the printhead to see if this resolves the issue.
- Connectivity issues: If your printer is connected to your computer via a network or USB cable, ensure that the connection is secure and that your printer is properly set up and configured.
- Driver issues: If your printer driver is outdated or corrupted, this can cause printing issues. Try updating your printer driver to the latest version.
- Printer settings: Check your printer settings to ensure that they are configured correctly. For example, if your printer is set to print in draft mode, this can cause dashes instead of solid lines. Adjust the settings as needed.
By trying these troubleshooting steps, you should be able to resolve the issue with your HP printer not printing solid lines or letters.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
