When printing, the printer prints text ok. It will not print, for instance, the logo on a bank statement or the graphic on a greeting card.

It sounds like a translation issue.

The printer is essentially unaware of what it is printing.

Content is translated into printer language - the translation fails if the content cannot be understood.

Download your bank statement and save the content as a PDF file.

Print the content as an image - no translation necessary.

PDF - Print as Image

Reinstall / Update your PDF Reader (Adobe Reader DC /Optional  Foxit Reader)

  • HINT:  Watch out for and UNCHECK unwanted extra software
  • Adobe Reader DC software should be installed even if you do not open / view / print PDF files directly from the software.

Acrobat Reader DC Help

If the file will not print due to unusual content (odd fonts, color schemes, tables, other oddities), print the file as an Image.  Image printing does not require the printer software to translate file content.

  1. Open the offending document in Adobe Reader DC
  1. Click Print icon > Set other options on the menu > Click Advanced button
  1. Set the printer select the colors (Optional)
  2. Select Print the PDF file as an image

What else?

Translation of content is dependent on the application used to view and submit the job to the printer.

In the case of a greeting card, what you do (again) depends on the type of application you are using.

The Full Feature Software (full driver) provides the foundation on which many applications depend.

For example,

  • Word documents use the printer software to understand Word document content.  If the file won't print, Export the document to PDF and print - print as an image if the translation still fails to translate.
  • Printing directly from the browser depends on both the settings available for print in the browser and the printer software, sometimes reached through "Properties" or similarly named "print from printer dialog" options.
