Printing on 250gsm card

I am having trouble printing on 250 and 220 gsm white card. I put 2 dozen sheets in the printer tray but the printer grabs the pages and sometimes puts 2 or 3 sheets together through the machine or prints half way down a page. I don't seem to be able to get any copies done properly and I really don't want to load one page at a time in the tray ! 

Am I missing a setting ? or is the machine simply unable to print on heavy card ?

Paper weight Supported: Recommended:

60 to 105 g/m² (plain);

220 to 280 g/m² (photo);

75 to 90 g/m² (envelope);

163 to 200 g/m² (card)
