I have bought an HP Envy 5546 and I would like to know if I can place a photo on the scan glass and copy it direct to photographic paper in the photo tray (not involving scanning to computer first). If that is possible, can someone explain how I do this, please?

Hi,
Thanks for using the HP Forums.
Follow these steps (extracted from the userguide):
Copy documents
The Copy menu on the printer display allows you to easily select number of copies and color or black and white for copying on plain paper.
You can also easily access advanced settings, such as changing the paper type and size, adjusting the darkness of the copy, and resizing the copy.
Make a 1-sided copy
1. Load the original print side down on the right front corner of the scanner glass.
2. Specify number of copies and settings.
● From the Home screen, touch Copy . Flick to the desired number of copies.
● If the value for the 2–Sided option is 1:2, touch to select 1:1.
● Touch (Settings) to specify paper size (select Letter, A4 or 4x6 or the photo size you are printing), paper type (select Photo, quality (select Best), or other settings.
● Touch (Back) to return to the Copy screen.
3. Touch Black or Color to start the copy job

Hi Greenturtle.
Thanks for this information - that is a great help.
On my HP Envy 5546 it is not exactly as you described though.
Under Settings the options I can choose are:
* 2-sided
* Tray and Paper (then Main Tray or Photo Tray)
* Resize
*Lighter / Darker
* ID Card Copy
None of these gives me the options you noted re paper type where I would be able to select Photo or Best.
That would be the missing step now for good quality photo copies, so if there is anyway of sorting that it would be tremendous.
At least I can now copy a photo onto photo paper in the photo tray thanks to your help.

Hi,
Glad to hear that your issue is resolved and all is working well now.
Wonder if there is a "Photo" option on the printer control panel?
Also, if it's Photo Tray selection, it ill print in a good quality photo.
Play around the settings to see if there is a "Quality" selection.
Thanks.
Have a nice day!
