I have 4x6 single shipping labels. Im printing off my Ebay site. I cant get the printer to print correct size. It prints the label sideways and is about 2" by 3".way too small. Im using a generic label not Avery stock. Im not using word. How can I get my shipping labels to print correctly to the paper size?

I know people can apparently print from eBay - there are thousands of sellers and they would be making noise if printing labels did not work. At least several hundred of these people must have an HP printer. Maybe there are instructions on eBay somewhere?
Let's say not and you are on your own for printing labels...
So, what are you using?
Not Word (so no template)
Not Avery (so no template)
Browser of some kind? Likely, though not defined...
Some ideas...
- Print from the browser setting the size, page setup, and paper size...
- If you have the physical label, that is, the "label paper bit" that is going to go on the box, create a simple 4x6 document that includes whatever content is pre-printed on the label with room for you to also add in the destination address. There are lots of ways to do this - no limits on what you can put on your label document except those dictated by space and what the printer can actually put on paper.
- Snip the bits you want out of the webpage, save and print...
Browser
In general, much of what you can do will depend on the browser you are using and how well you can judge / set the Page Setup / Scale for the print. Next, before you print, click open the Properties / Preferences and set the paper size. Margins must usually be set to narrow or custom to avoid the tiny-label on large paper effect.
Click to open the Print settings (varies by browser)
Click to open Page Setup / Scale and set size (to 100% or whatever is wanted / necessary)
Click to open Preferences or Properties
Find the tab and set the paper size
Click to close the Properties / Preferences menu
Click to Print the label / document / webpage / image
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Create Word document that looks like the label you want to print and place on that box...
Create a document that includes the content normally on the label. For example, add text or fancy graphics that say "Hey, this package is from eBay" or something along those lines.
Using Word to create a custom looking label document...
Grab a snip of the content from the computer screen
Save the image
Open a blank Word document (use OpenOffice if you don't have access to Office Word)
Set the Layout: Orientation, and Size of the document to match the size of the label.
Set the Margins as close to 0 as your document will allow (custom margins at .12 inches for example)
NOTE: If the margin setting balks, click "Fix" in the error message and let the margins reset.
Insert your saved image into the document
Double click on the image
Adjust the size as wanted - big, small, covering the space, or not.
Optional: Set Text Wrapping to "Tight" and "Behind Text"
Add whatever you want - Destination Address, Return Address - more graphics...
Save and Print
==================================================================
Snip, save, and print
Set up the whole thing in the Browser, Snip-Save-Print the bits from the screen you want on the paper,
Create a Snip of the information on the page > save the snipped image as a .jpg file > print that file.
Use whatever software you have that can easily print an image file.
For example, HP Smart can print the image at 4x6 inches on the paper you select.

thanks for the info. unfortunately these labels include the postage, so I cant do them in word. I'm using windows 10, I have changed the paper size to 4x6 and that doesn't seem to help in getting the print any bigger. it does not give you a lot of adjustments to choose from. Probably if I wasn't printing from Ebay I would not be having these issues, I can print the label without a problem on a letter size paper and then cut it out but then I waste a lot of paper and have to tape it to the package. trying to make things easier for me and less expensive. I might try the letter size shipping labels and just print 2 at a time to not waste the paper, That might be my only solution.

You are welcome.
I get it...
I did think perhaps it is something weird about what the label wants as opposed to what the setup will do.
Yes, if you can switch to more efficient label the mechanics might be easier. One would think it would not matter but if you are boxing and shipping many items in a day, the steps, the hassle, and the overall exhaustion over the process adds up.
I might have missed something obvious, too.
I box. label, and ship maybe four boxes a year. Smiling.
Stay Safe.
