HP ENVY 5660 e-All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

My envy 5660 sometimes stops printing part way through a page, a printer error message flashes on the computer screen "printer could not print", then the partial page is ejected and the printing starts over and is completed.  This happens intermittently. I have reinstalled the printer and software, turned off power and restarted, turned off power to router and restarted. Nothing I have tried has proven to be a lasting solution.

Hi @TK1029,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing an intermittent issue with your HP Envy 5660 printer where printing stops before the page is completed and you receive an error message stating "printer could not print." Let's try some troubleshooting steps to address this problem:

Check for Paper Jams: Even if there are no visible paper jams, there could be small shreds of paper stuck inside the printer that are causing intermittent errors. Open the printer's access doors and carefully check for any obstructions. Use a flashlight if necessary.

Inspect Ink Cartridges: Ensure that the ink cartridges are properly installed and not low on ink. Low ink levels or improperly seated cartridges can sometimes cause printing errors. Remove and reinsert the cartridges to ensure they are securely in place.

Clean Printer Rollers: Dirty or worn printer rollers can cause paper feeding issues. Use a lint-free cloth dampened with water to gently clean the rollers. Avoid using alcohol or other harsh chemicals, as they can damage the rollers.

Update Printer Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your HP Envy 5660 printer. Firmware updates can often address bugs and improve overall performance. You can usually check for updates through the printer's control panel or the HP Smart app.

Adjust Paper Settings: Make sure that the paper settings in your printer driver match the paper type and size you are using. Incorrect paper settings can cause printing errors.

Reset Printing System: On your computer, navigate to the printer settings or devices section. Remove the HP Envy 5660 printer from the list of installed printers, and then add it back again. This will reset the printing system and may resolve any software-related issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
