I received an error message that said "There is a problem with the supply system. Try replacing the affected cartridge with a different, non-empty cartridge. If message reappears again, record message and contact HP. The error message referenced the magenta cartridge. I replaced the magenta cartridge with a new authentic HP cartridge. Still the same error message. Then I ordered a complete set of genuine HP cartridges, and put another new magenta cartridge in, and STILL the same error message. Then I got an error message about the existing yellow cartridge that still had ink in it and it told me that now had an issue. So I replaced that with a new genuine HP cartridge. STILL getting error message about the Magenta, even though I have now tried two new cartridges.  I have watched all the videos, unpluggerd, replugged. Downloaded drivers that did nothing. STILL THE SAME ERROR MESSAGE. Any help appreciated.

@LKR210348960, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for reaching out and sharing the detailed steps you've already taken, you're clearly doing everything right by using genuine HP cartridges and following troubleshooting videos. Let's try a few deeper steps to resolve the "Problem with Supply System" error related to the magenta cartridge, and now also the yellow one.

Power Reset the Printer

Even if you've done this before, please try this exact sequence:

  • Turn on the printer.
  • Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer while it's still on.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet directly (avoid surge protectors).
  • Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn the printer back on.

Clean Cartridge Contacts

Sometimes, ink or debris on the cartridge or printer contacts can cause supply system errors.

  • Turn off the printer and open the cartridge access door.
  • Remove the magenta and yellow cartridges.
  • Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to gently clean the gold-colored contacts on the cartridges and inside the printer.
  • Let everything dry for 5 minutes before reinserting the cartridges.

Update Printer Firmware

Outdated firmware can cause cartridge recognition issues.

Check for Cartridge Authentication

Make sure the printer is recognizing the cartridges as genuine HP

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
