Hi @striki,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP printer is showing Error 05, and previous attempts like disconnecting power and resetting the printer have not resolved it. Let’s go through the steps to troubleshoot this issue.

1. Identify Error 05 Meaning

Error 05 usually indicates a paper feed, cartridge, or printhead issue, depending on the printer model.

Refer to your printer manual for the exact definition for your model.

2. Check Cartridges / Printhead

Turn off the printer and open the cartridge access area.

Remove all cartridges and inspect them for:

Damage

Improper installation

Expired or empty cartridges

If your printer has a removable printhead, check for proper seating and any visible clogs or damage.

Reinstall everything firmly.

3. Clean the Printer Components

Inspect the cartridge contacts and printhead nozzles.

Gently clean with a lint-free cloth or distilled water if needed.

Avoid harsh chemicals.

4. Check Paper Path

Make sure there are no jammed paper fragments or foreign objects in the paper path.

Verify that the paper tray is properly seated and that paper size/settings match what’s loaded.

5. Power Cycle

Turn off the printer, unplug from power, and wait 5–10 minutes.

Plug it back in and turn on.

Attempt a test print.

6. Firmware / Software Check

Ensure the printer firmware is updated.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor (for Windows) to automatically detect and resolve hardware or driver issues.

I hope this helps.
