HP OfficeJet Pro 6970 All-in-One Printer

Hi,

I have a HP OfficeJet Pro 6970 All-in-One Printer - Product No. TOF33A

It is displaying an error message 'There is a problem with the printhead' which means I cannot print/copy anything.

I have changed all of the ink cartridges for new ones & powered the printer off/on twice. Still no luck.

Is anyone able to help me please?

Thanks.

Hi,

I managed to get in touch with HP via Whatsapp. If the printer is out of warranty (mine is) they can only help with troubleshooting. It didn't work for me 😞 but below is exactly what the technical specialist recommended.

FIRST STEP

If your printer has a rechargeable battery, remove it.

With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.

Unplug the power cord from the power source.

Wait 60 seconds.

Reconnect the power cord to a wall outlet and to the printer.

NOTE: HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.

Turn on the printer to complete the reset.

SECOND STEP

Open the door or lid to the cartridge access area. Wait until the carriage stops moving before continuing.

  1. Look for a latch on the carriage.
  2. Remove all of the cartridges from the carriage. Push in the tab on each cartridge, and then lift them out of the carriage.
  3. Lift the latch on the carriage until it stops.
  4. Grasp the printhead by the sides to remove it from the carriage.
  5. Lightly dampen a lint free cloth with distilled or bottled water, and then wipe the electrical contacts from the bottom to the top until no ink appears on the cloth. Do not go past the edge between the electrical contacts and the ink nozzles.
  6. Using a clean area of the damp cloth, wipe any accumulated ink and debris from the edge between the ink nozzles and the electrical contacts.
  7. Using a clean area of the damp cloth, wipe the ramps on both sides of the ink nozzles. Wipe away from the nozzles only.
  8. Wipe each of the previous areas with a clean, dry, lint-free cloth.
  9. Using a clean area of the damp cloth, wipe the electrical contacts in the carriage from top to bottom until no ink appears on the cloth.
  10. Wipe the contacts with a clean, dry, lint-free cloth.
  11. Slide the printhead back into the carriage, and then lower the latch until it stops.
  12. Reinsert each cartridge into its color-coded slot, making sure each snaps into place and none are protruding.
  13. Close the door or lid to the cartridge access area.

THIRD STEP (AND FINAL STEP)

We have tried all possible steps but the issue still persists, I would request you to please visit the local service centre to fix this issue.

I don't have a latch so this is not an option for me. It is nigh on impossible to find someone to speak to or communicate with directly....
