HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 All-in-One Printer

I have 2 problems with my printer that, based on other discussions here, require a reset of the printer. First, my printer can no longer scan to a folder on my computer after changing routers. Second, I am getting error B80004E8 when I shut down the printer. How do I perform the reset on this printer?

Hi @Frank510,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are trying to reset your HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 All-in-One Printer, follow these steps:

Resetting the Printer to Factory Settings

Turn on the Printer: Make sure your printer is powered on. If it's not, press the power button to turn it on.

Access the Printer's Settings:

  • From the printer's control panel, swipe down to open the dashboard, then touch the Setup icon (usually a gear or wrench icon).

Open the Printer Maintenance Menu:

  • In the Setup menu, navigate to Printer Maintenance.

Restore Factory Defaults:

  • Scroll through the Printer Maintenance menu and select Restore. Then, choose Restore Factory Defaults.

Confirm Reset:

  • The printer will ask you to confirm your choice to restore the factory defaults. Select Yes to confirm. The printer will begin the reset process, which may take a few minutes.

Reconfigure Network Settings:

  • After the reset is complete, you will need to reconnect the printer to your new router. Follow the prompts on the printer's control panel to enter your new Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password.

Additional Steps for Scanning to a Folder

After resetting your printer and reconnecting it to your new router, you may need to reconfigure the settings for scanning to a folder:

Reinstall HP Software:

  • If you haven't done so, reinstall the HP printer software on your computer to ensure all settings are properly updated to the new network configuration.

Set Up Scan to Folder:

  • Open the HP software or HP Smart app on your computer.
  • Navigate to Scan settings and select Scan to Network Folder.
  • Follow the instructions to add a new folder, ensuring you use the correct network path and credentials.
