Hi @Sbradley,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I can imagine how frustrating it must be to see the output bin indicator showing as full when it isn’t, especially when you're trying to get your printing tasks done. Let's work together to resolve this issue.

Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can take to fix the problem:

Check for Paper Jam: Sometimes, paper can get stuck or jammed in the output bin area, causing the printer to think it's full. Carefully check the output bin and the surrounding areas for any obstructions and remove them if found.

Inspect the Sensors: The printer has sensors that detect whether the output bin is full. Dust or debris on these sensors can cause incorrect readings. Gently clean the area around the output bin and the sensors with a soft, lint-free cloth.

Reset the Printer: Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can reset the printer’s internal sensors.

Check Output Bin Position: Ensure that the output bin is properly seated in its position. If it is not aligned correctly, the printer may incorrectly register it as being full.

Update Printer Firmware: Make sure your printer’s firmware is up to date. You can check for updates using the HP Smart app or the printer's control panel. Firmware updates can fix bugs and improve printer performance.

Or Click here to update the firmware.

If the error persists, let us perform a semi-full reset.

  • The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
  • I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instructions to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.

Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.
