I am printing to Avery 5877 clean edge business card sheets, from a pdf template on the Avery site. (10 per sheet) The cards are misaligned, but the error increases from top to bottom of the sheet. This cannot be adjusted on the Avery site, but am wondering if there is a problem with the printer. I have done the HP alignment process. This is a 2700 Series printer.

Welcome to the HP Community --
There might be a number contributors.
A main consideration is whether the paper weight is supported.
"Close to supported" weight might work for matte paper / cards.
"Way too heavy" will balk, drag, die, or get stuck.

What the Printer can do
HP Card paper is a match to "Index" paper (an ISO standard paper type).

Section Paper Handling
Media weight supported (metric) | A4: 60 to 90 g/m²; HP envelopes: 75 to 90 g/m²; HP cards: up to 200 g/m²; HP 10 x 15 cm photo paper: up to 300 g/m² |
Borderless printing | No |
Next, look at the paper type - if you can select Brochure Matte (or similar) in EWS, the printer might not drag so hard on the paper.
