I can copy COLOUR DOCUMENT OK
I can print a WORD document in colour OK
When I try to print a colour graphic image I only get a gray scale print. I set to COLOR and not Monochrome.
I have an HP 4870 on the same network and that works fine!
Appreciate any help.

Welcome to the HP Forums!
I hope you're well @MO456,
I understand that you are having some print quality problems with printing from your Photosmart 5520. I would suggest the following steps, which will cover a hardware issue, and also software issues. If these steps do not fix the problem, then the issue is likely the printhead within the unit and would suggest calling phone support directly at that point to discuss a replacement printer.
1. Power reset the printer and ensure the printer is plugged in directly to a wall outlet.
2. Follow the steps here: Printer Prints a Blank Page or Does Not Print Black or Color Ink
3. Try printing from another program on your computer.
4. Uninstall and reinstall the printer driver and software only if the steps from step 2 showed no issues.
If you have any troubles, let me know and I will do my best to help.
Hit the "Accept as Solution" if we've reached a solution, and the "thumbs up" to say thanks for my help. 🙂
Have a great day:D

Many thanks for your prompt reply.
I have now tried from a Windows PC to this printer HP5520 using HP Print and Scan doctor. Lo and Behold it gave a similar result and stated that I needed to replace my colour cartridges (Step 2 in your instructions).
I am awaiting delivery of new cartridges on 12 Sept.
I was fooled by being able to print in colour from a Word document and did not suspect my cartridges (non HP).
