HP Deskjet 2130

I am in the process of attempting to setup and install a HP DESKJET 2130. I  unboxed the product, removed the packaging and have followed the operating instructions exactly. I am now stuck at the point where it should automatically print an alignment page- but absolutely nothing is happening. I can't even install the printer without aligning the cartridges first. Please could you advise?

@lorczder,

Thanks for taking an interest in the HP Support Forums After reading your post I see that you require assistance with alignment issues while installing and connecting a new printer. It will be a delight to assist you here.

Superb analysis and brilliant diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you on that score. 🙂

For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this:

  • Did you try to perform a hard reset and remove and reinstall the cartridges again?

It could be a possible hardware issue with the printer. For now, try these steps:

Please perform all the prescribed steps from this link: http://hp.care/2IetV2U (HP Inkjet Printers - 'Alignment Unsuccessful' Error Message Displays)

Step 1: Tips for understanding printer alignment messages

Step 2: Reset the printer

Step 3: Use genuine HP ink cartridges

Step 4: Evaluate the alignment page

Step 5: Check estimated ink levels and replace any low or empty ink cartridges

Step 6: Clean the printhead or ink cartridge

Step 7: Replace the printhead or ink cartridge

Step 8: Service the printer.

For further assistance, please follow all the prescribed steps from this link: http://hp.care/2IePSij

Now check for issue resolution. If it continues, then contact Hp phone support to get the cartridges replaced and this might work as long as the printer's hardware is not faulty. If the printer is faulty, then the printer needs to be replaced.

I am being honest about it by keeping your best interest in mind, without beating around the bush.

Hi David,

Thanks for the reply.

I had attempted a hard reset before posting, it still didn't work, so I went and watched an installation video on Youtube to ensure that  I had installed the cartridges correctly. I had, and even after attempting a second hard reset the alignment page didn't print. At this point, I decided to forgo the HP instruction manual and attempt to install the printer with my computer and try printing- so I could ascertain if it was a faulty printer or just a glitch with the software. Once I had printed about 20 pages of documents, the alignment page finally printed itself.
