Hi @Bubbles35,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The error message "Scanner Error 16" typically indicates a hardware issue with your printer's scanner. This error message often appears on HP printers. To resolve the problem, you can try the following steps.

  • Turn off the printer: Press the power button to turn off the printer.
  • Disconnect the power cord: Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and wait for about 30 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord: Plug the power cord back into the printer securely.
  • Turn on the printer: Press the power button to turn on the printer. Wait for it to initialize.
  • Check for obstructions: Ensure that there are no paper jams or foreign objects obstructing the scanner's movement. Carefully open the scanner lid and visually inspect for any physical obstacles.
  • Clean the scanner glass: If you notice any dirt, smudges, or debris on the scanner glass, gently clean it with a lint-free cloth or a glass cleaner. Avoid using abrasive materials that may scratch the glass.
  • Restart your computer: Sometimes, a simple restart of your computer can help resolve communication issues between the computer and the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
