HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M281fdw

Last October your update bricked my printer. It is stuck on resend upgrade. I have done EVERYTHING i can find online to try.  I have worked on this problem for hours and hours. It has sat for months with me naively thinking HP might get their act together and fix this issue. There are threads of many other people with the same issue. THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED. I will bad mouth HP and trash their name every chance I get if this is what they think is acceptable way to treat PAYING CUSTOMERS!!! It is not like their customer service is great when i had issues with brand new items either. This isn't some cheap $100 printer these are hundreds of dollars. HP has left many people and businesses S.O.L. because of this. If anyone is starting a class action lawsuit please let me  know. I am happy to join in your efforts. This is absolutely unacceptable and ridiculous. I will never buy another HP product for the rest of my life.

Hi @H-P_shxbig1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I can offer you some general troubleshooting steps that might help you resolve the issue.

  • Check Error Message: Make sure to carefully read the error message displayed on the printer's screen or on your computer. This message can often provide clues about what's causing the problem.
  • Restart the Printer: Sometimes, a simple restart can clear up temporary glitches. Turn off the printer, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on.
  • Check Internet Connection: If the upgrade requires an internet connection, ensure that your printer is connected to the internet properly.
  • Update Firmware Manually: If you're trying to upgrade the printer's firmware, consider downloading the latest firmware version from HP's official website. Then, using a USB flash drive, transfer the firmware update to the printer and perform a manual firmware update.
  • Clear Print Queue: If the error is related to a print job, there might be a print job stuck in the queue. Clear the print queue and try again.
  • Factory Reset: As a last resort, you could perform a factory reset on the printer. This will restore the printer's settings to their default values. Keep in mind that this step should be taken only if other troubleshooting methods have failed and you're comfortable with the process.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
