HP Deskjet 2632
Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan

I purchased a HP Deskjet 2632 a while ago and have only used it a few times.... it spent a few months unused and now when I tried to use it again, the black ink is not printing at all. The printer and laptop show there's a low level of black ink (but not empty yet), but I know fur sure there's a lot of ink left as I've only used that cartridge a few times and the Printer Information page prints perfectly with all the black text. However ,when I try to print a document it doesn't even try to use the black ink.
I know these cartridges (304) have a chip that "knows" when it's empty so it wills top working... is there a way to reset this level? I don't want to spend my money on new cartridges when this one is still full to print perfectly! I feel cheated to be honest...

A warm welcome to HP Forums! This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries.

Power resetting the printer and then performing an automated/manual cleaning may resolve the issue. Let's try these steps:

1) Make sure this printer is plugged into a direct wall, not a surge protector

2) Remove all of your ink cartridges from the printer and close the door

3) Remove the power cord from the back of the printer (Do no press the power button)

4) Clean the ink cartridges, refer to step 4 from this document.

5) Plug the power cord back into the printer

6) Wait for the printer to turn on completely, then install the ink cartridges.

7) Use the step 5 from this document to perform an automated cleaning.

Let me know how it goes!
