i was just trying to scan a document - which was no problem recently.
hp easy scan returns an unspecific error. using mac os "printer & scanner" and "open scanner" command returns the following error: -9923
the device is connected via Wifi.
printing works without any problems.
i've been trying several of the solutions mentioned in "HP comunity" already. e.g. unpluging the printer from power and reconnecting. unfortunately without any effect.

apart from the fact that resetting the printer system deletes any of your printing and scanning devices from "System Preferences / printers & scanners" - which is really annoying if you work in a professional setting and have numerous of these devices - the solution worked.
best regards

The first thing to do is to follow the instructions in the HP link Network Scanner Connection Error (Mac).
Please restart the printer, computer, and router for solve this problem.
- Turn the printer off, and then wait 10 seconds.
- Disconnect the printer power cord from the printer.
- Turn off the computer or the device you are trying to print or scan from.
- Connect the printer power cord to the printer, and then turn on the printer.
- Disconnect the power cord from your wireless router, and then wait 30 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord to the router.
NOTE:
Wait until internet service is restored. Internet service is interrupted while the router is off. - Wait at least 3 minutes, then turn on the computer.
- Try to scan again.
If the issue continues, please assign a fixed IP address to the printer as follows:
- In the printer control panel screen, touch the Wireless icon (
) to retrieve the printer IP address.
- Launch a web page, and then type this address in the address bar and Enter. The printer Web interface opens.
- Click the Network tab, then under Wireless (802.11), click Network Address (IPv4).
- Check the Manual IP option, and then press the button to Suggest a Manual IP Address.
- Once the first 3 fields are filled in, check the Manual DNS Server.
- Enter the address 8.8.8.8 as Manual Preferred DNS Server.
- Enter the address 8.8.4.4 as Manual Alternate DNS Server.
- Click on Apply and OK.
- Try to print and scan.
I remain at your disposal in case of need.
Best regards,
